Bavno Horo and Rachenitsa

from The Last Drop by Szkojáni Charlatans

/

about

I grew up with a version of Bavno Horo from the folk dance groups my parents attended. Now thanks to Iska, I got the chance to learn the Bulgarian lyrics and what they mean. I always loved this song for the heavy slow beat it has. At the end of the song it picks up into a rachenitsa, so we added some more rachenitsa to keep up the dance. -Kjartan

lyrics

Snoshti rekoh da ti doida
Snoshti rekoh da ti doida
||: Sitna rosa zarosi, ot rosa se uplashtih
za tui ne doidoh :||

Zgotvila byah sladka vecherya
Zgotvila byah sladka vecherya
||: Tri kokoshki pecheni, rueno vino cherveno
Abre budalo! :||

Kakav yunak ti ke bidesh?
Kakav yunak ti ke bidesh?
||: Ot rosa da se uplashish, pri mene da si ne doidesh?
Abre budalo! :||
